It certainly keeps the racing close and intense, but removes the ability for players to tune their cars to their preferences – and exhausts this writer’s ability to produce puns on the word ‘BoP’.

I remember a World Challenge race where there was a BoP change after morning warmup, but that's the closest to a race change I can think of. It's simply impractical to change parameters after the green flies.
